De-escalation & Nonphysical Intervention – Workplace Violence Prevention 200

About Course

Healthcare employees communicate with people who may be frightened, angry, confused, in pain, or overwhelmed. This course develops introductory nonphysical response judgment: recognize changing conditions, reduce avoidable pressure, communicate clearly, make workable requests, and obtain help when continued contact is ineffective or unsafe. Attention, memory, expectations, and stress shape performance, so the course connects individual decisions with usable controls and team support.

Apply the concepts across clinical, registration, technical, support, finance, and security work while staying within assigned authority. The priority is protection of employees, patients, visitors, and others at the facility. Communication is one available tool, and immediate danger may require protective action without completing a sequence. This online course does not establish hands-on competence in physical intervention, restraint, escape, or clinical treatment.
